Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a garage floor coating cost in Calgary?

Typical planning ranges are about $5–$9 per sq. ft. for standard epoxy, $6–$10 for decorative flake, $5–$12 for polyaspartic or polyurea systems, and $8–$12 for metallic epoxy. A typical two-car garage often lands around $2,400–$7,200 CAD in total. Your final price depends on measured area, concrete condition, preparation, system and options — only a contractor's written quote is a real price. Try the cost calculator for a range based on your garage.

Is Calgary Garage Floors the company that installs the floor?

No. Calgary Garage Floors is a contractor-matching and referral platform. We do not install floor coatings. Independent contractors provide the inspections, quotes, contracts and work, and are responsible for their own warranties and credentials.

How does “up to 3 quotes” work?

You submit one request describing your project. With your consent, we share it with up to three independent contractors that serve your area and handle your type of project, and they contact you directly. Matching depends on contractor coverage and availability for your community and project type — not every request will match three contractors.

Do I have to hire one of the contractors?

No. Requesting quotes is free and does not obligate you to hire any contractor. You can compare the quotes and hire one, or hire none of them.

How quickly will contractors contact me?

That depends on the contractors' schedules and on coverage in your area, so we do not promise a specific response time. Complete project details and photos help contractors respond with fewer back-and-forth questions.

Epoxy or polyaspartic — which is better for Alberta winters?

Neither is universally better. Polyaspartic systems typically cure faster and resist UV yellowing; epoxy offers a wide range of finishes and is a proven option. In Alberta, surface preparation and moisture testing usually matter more than the system name, because road salt, freeze-thaw cycles and temperature swings stress the bond between slab and coating. Our comparison guide walks through the trade-offs.

How long does installation usually take?

It varies with the system, the size of the floor and the preparation required. Many residential projects take one to several days of work, plus curing time before foot and vehicle traffic — and cure times differ by product. The contractor's written quote should state the schedule and when the floor can be used again.

What affects the final price?

Measured square footage, concrete condition, moisture testing and any mitigation, surface preparation or removal of an existing coating, the coating system and number of coats, options such as stem walls or anti-slip texture, and site access. This is why two garages of the same size can be priced quite differently.

Can you quote commercial or large-area projects?

We accept commercial project requests — warehouses, parkades, auto shops, restaurants and other large floors — through the commercial form. Commercial requests are qualified separately from residential garages, because area, downtime and work windows drive the quote. As with residential requests, the actual quotes come from independent contractors.

What happens to my information after I submit the form?

With your consent, your contact and project details are shared with up to three matched independent contractors so they can contact you about quotes — and with no one else for unrelated purposes. Occasional floor-care emails are sent only if you separately opt in. See the Privacy Policy for the full description.

Should I send photos of my garage?

Yes, if you can. A wide shot of the whole floor, close-ups of cracks or damage, the edges and stem walls, and the current coating help contractors understand the project faster and quote more accurately. The residential form accepts up to 5 photos.

Are the estimates guaranteed?

No. The calculator and the ranges on this site are planning estimates based on the information entered — they are not quotes, bids or guarantees of price. Your final price can be lower or higher. Only an independent contractor who reviews your project can provide a binding written quote.
